This is an important topic, essential discussion and a critical reminder of the chaos that can happen every day in our lives and the world around us. It is also fun to see a raw and focused discussion of who we are, really.

There is a sense of levity here that helps us laugh at ourselves, even appreciate others a bit more than we do now. We are all flawed in some way; embracing others more would be helpful.

I have been turning around and developing businesses as well as teaching conversation for most of my professional life. What seems to drive or upset humankind is a misunderstanding of perception, fact and reality. At the top is most importantly perception---for many, “perception rules over fact.” As you mentioned, we become experts in what we read, see, think, etc.

We need to know -- and not knowing is terrifying. I believe you explained that pretty well and yes, it is getting worse. Even good questions and mindful listening are not holding their own and, often, we are needing more skill and patience.
